“If you are happy to proceed can I put the interview on the Back-Chat website?” “Yes you may”

Sara Bright (25th August 2021)

It was a pleasure to interview Sara Bright, a lively American woman who is our first interviewee born and living in the USA. Talking to Sara about her life and times in America is like reliving memories of books and films about the US in the 1950s and 60s.
It’s interesting to hear what the difference is between a college and a university; what’s it like to live through an earthquake; her early life in Louisville, Kentucky as well as up to date views such as how the American people view the coronavirus.
Sara was a Special Needs teacher and has always been a prominent member of the Baptist Church.
We chat about Donald Trump and about racism in the US – both topics revealing things that surprised me.
Talking of surprises, I asked her about the Gun Laws in the USA, you’ll be interested to hear what she has to say.

Please take into consideration when listening to these interviews that the meaning of language changes over time and that interviewees have not intended to cause offence by anything said which now may be thought to be unacceptable.

Recording this social history, chatting to different people about a whole host of subjects has been a real pleasure, such an interesting and I think worthwhile project for people to listen to both now and in years to come.

Thank you for visiting this website.
