“You have my permission to publish the photos and the interview we did last year.” Jackie Watkinson |
Jackie was born at home in Haw Street Yeadon, with no electricity, just one cold water tap and, of course, an outside privy. She had a lifetime ambition to become a nurse and, following a spell at Peates Mill in Guiseley, Jackie was able to fulfil this childhood ambition working for 23 years in oncology nursing. Add into this mix a love of cake making and decorating and you have the gently told story of Jackie Watkinson.
Have a listen, you will enjoy this.

Please take into consideration when listening to these interviews that the meaning of language changes over time and that interviewees have not intended to cause offence by anything said which now may be thought to be unacceptable.
Recording this social history, chatting to different people about a whole host of subjects has been a real pleasure, such an interesting and I think worthwhile project for people to listen to both now and in years to come.
